In a celebratory atmosphere, the workshop entitled: “Learner Innovations and Challenges of Artificial Intelligence” concluded at the Professor Mounir Abu Asli Official High School in Zahle.

The closing ceremony was attended by prominent figures, led by Dr. Kamal Shehadeh, Minister of Displaced Persons and Minister of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence, in addition to a selection of academics, educators, and social workers, Engineer Salim Ghazaleh, Mayor of Zahle, Dr. Najwa Al-Khazaka, Director of the High School, Rose Kassouf, Director of Zahle Official High School, Moussa Freiji, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Mounir Abu Asli High School, and Khaled Al-Fayed, Director of Secondary Education at the Ministry of Education.

During his speech, Shehadeh expressed his pride in being in Zahle, which he described as the “city of thought, culture, and creativity,” and affirmed that what educational institutions in this city are witnessing in terms of achievements “is a model to be emulated in Lebanon for linking education with innovation and knowledge with development.”

The Minister also praised the “constructive partnership between the school, the university, and the community,” noting that “what the students of Professor Mounir Abu Asli Official High School, in cooperation with the American University of Science and Technology, have presented is living proof that Lebanese creativity knows no bounds.” He thanked Professor Mounir Abu Asli, the high school administration, the teaching staff, and the Board of Trustees, praising their efforts in “preparing a new generation that believes in its capabilities and makes its future with its knowledge and intelligence.”

Shehadeh emphasized that “artificial intelligence is not an end in itself, but rather a means to empower the Lebanese, especially the youth, to transform their ideas into solutions and their knowledge into opportunities,” and added: “My message today from Zahle to all of Lebanon: We want education that keeps pace with the times, technology that serves humanity, and young people who innovate and do not emigrate.”

In a related context, Shehadeh praised the Lebanese team that achieved an honorable victory in the “Huawei” Information and Communications Technology competition, considering that “this new achievement proves once again the creative Lebanese energies capable of competing globally despite all the challenges.”

He pointed out that the projects presented by 18 winning students reflect an advanced youth vision in using artificial intelligence to serve society, including these projects:

– “FarmConnect AI”: A smart platform that connects farmers with consumers and supports sustainable agriculture.

– “Zahle Unveils”: An interactive application entitled “City of Wine and Poetry” that aims to introduce Zahle’s landmarks and rich heritage.

– “AI-Powered Interactive Map”: A smart map that aims to document the cultural and historical heritage of the Bekaa region in an innovative and attractive style.

– “Smart Assistant for Enhancing Medication Culture”: A smart assistant that aims to promote health awareness and medication culture among individuals.

At the conclusion of the workshop, Shehadeh distributed certificates of appreciation to the participating students and trainers, in recognition of their efforts and distinguished achievements.

In return, Engineer Moussa Freiji, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the High School, presented a shield of thanks and appreciation to Minister Shehadeh, expressing gratitude for his patronage, presence, and continuous support for education and innovation initiatives.

Shehadeh concluded his speech by emphasizing that “Zahle will remain a city of leadership and excellence, and an example of “Lebanon of science, development, and humanity,” calling for continuing this journey that “plants hope and knowledge in the land of the homeland.”
