The Israeli army spokesman, Avichay Adraee, stated via his account on the “X” platform today, Monday, regarding the incident of an Israeli army drone falling in the Kfarkela area of southern Lebanon.
Adraee explained, saying: “To clarify matters: An Israeli army drone was shot down yesterday in the Kfarkela area of southern Lebanon, during a routine information gathering and reconnaissance activity. The initial investigation showed that UNIFIL forces stationed near the location deliberately fired at the drone, despite it not posing any threat to them.”
Adraee also added: “After the drone was shot down, IDF forces threw a hand grenade at the area where the drone was shot down,” stressing that “no shots were fired at UNIFIL forces,” and noting that the investigation into the incident will be completed through military liaison channels.
In contrast, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) issued a statement regarding the bombing of peacekeepers, stating: “At approximately 5:45 PM on Sunday, an Israeli drone approached a UNIFIL patrol near the town of Kfarkela and dropped a bomb, and moments later an Israeli tank fired towards the peacekeepers.”
