Microsoft has announced the launch of a new version of the “Edge” browser, which includes many features supported by artificial intelligence, making it very close to the “Atlas” AI browser of “OpenAI”.
Microsoft has added the “Copilot” tool to this new version, so that it is no longer just a simple addition, but has become an intelligent and integrated assistant that accompanies users while browsing the Internet.
The CEO of Microsoft AI, Mustafa Suleiman, described this new product in these words during its announcement.
Suleiman wrote in the announcement post: “Copilot’s position in Edge is evolving into an AI browser that represents your dynamic and intelligent companion, where Copilot can see and think about your open tabs, summarize and compare information, and even take actions such as booking a hotel or filling out forms.”
This announcement comes shortly after OpenAI launched its “Atlas” browser.
The company stated that the launch of the “Copilot” version had been planned for weeks, and had probably been in development for several months.
The technology website “TechCrunch” pointed out that part of the similarity between the two browsers is logical, as users prefer simple browsers, and there are limited ways to integrate an AI chat window into the “new tab” interface.
The site explained that the main difference between the two browsers lies in the basic artificial intelligence models on which each of them relies, noting that the great similarity between them and their launch in the same week reflects the intense and growing competition in the rapidly growing artificial intelligence market.
