Striking workers at Boeing Defense in the St. Louis area rejected the company’s latest contract proposal on Sunday, sending the strike into its thirteenth week and delaying deliveries of fighter jets and other programs.

Leaders of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Local 837 said the offer did not meet the needs of its approximately 3,200 members.

“Boeing claims they’ve been listening to their employees, but today’s vote proves them wrong,” said IAM District 837 President Brian Bryant. “Company executives continue to disrespect the very people who make the most advanced military aircraft in the world, the same military aircraft and military systems that keep our servicemen and women, and our nation safe.”

According to the IAM, the five-year offer is very similar to previous offers that members have rejected. In a letter to workers on Thursday, Boeing Vice President Dan Gillian said, “To fund the increases in this offer, we had to make trade-offs,” explaining that it included reducing the hourly wage increase for attendance and some shifts.
